EXONUMIA (2017)
a sound performance by seth and heather warren-crow
world stage design 2017, taipei, taiwan
Exonumia (18 min. 10 sec.) is a sound performance for one live performer and an audio track. Appropriating the format and the language of meditation and visualization tracks that claim to help the listener gain wealth, Exonumia explores the materiality of money in the Information Age. During the performance, I eat breakfast while listening to the track, dutifully repeating "inspirational" statements when prompted by the narrator. The sounds of chewing and slurping feature prominently in the performance.

The original performance used sound spatialization techniques and a surround sound system to produce precise effects. The above audio document is in stereo and is thus only an approximation of the original piece.

World Stage Design is an event held every four years that showcases exemplary scenography from around the globe.
